We were invited by Tesco Extra, Holmbush Centre, Upper Shoreham Road to hold two awareness days on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th February 2023. Steve Maple, his sister Louise and their wider family wanted to raise funds in memory of their Mum who sadly passed away from MND two years ago.
We had a great couple of days, meeting and talking to people who had been touched by this cruel disease and also those who wanted to know more about it, since it has been highlighted so much more in recent years. We raised more than £1,000 which was fantastic.
MNDA West Sussex South branch wants to say a big thank-you to the store Customer Service Manager Lisa for giving us the days and all the staff that contributed by wearing blue or orange and donating a £1 for the privilege!! Thanks go to Steve and his family too, they were there for both days between 10am – 4pm supporting the branch, they were amazing!
Every little helps
Following a previous post highlighting the wonderful weekend we spent at Tesco Extra, Holmbush Centre, Upper Shoreham Road, the following week there was a staff sale and all proceeds were generously donated to our branch.
A magnificent total of £607.38 (slightly more than is shown on the cheque) was collected and when added to the donations that had been received during the awareness weekend, the final total raised was £1,606.45!!
We had been given two lovely hampers and were offering a raffle ticket for every donation received. Our lucky winners were Jo (pictured) and Natalie and were safely delivered to Hove and Lancing.
Thank you again to Steve Maple, his wife Debbie, sisters Nikki and Lou and brother-in-law Darren who were brilliant on both days, not forgetting Steve’s team and colleagues and Lisa the Customer Service Manager for letting us hold the event.
